Unboxing graveyard accessories from Ogri Doupe (and finished herald)

I had a chance to visit a miniature store during my trip to Prague this summer.
Apart the usual GW stuff, they had something special to sell.

So, I was at the register of Ogří Doupě, paying for two boxes of chaos hounds. I rolled 20 for perception and noticed these MDF sheets by the counter and asked what they were.

Apparently the owner makes terrain himself and sells it at the store.
There were caskets, tombstones and fences (if I remember correctly), and I immediately purchased two of both caskets and tombstones.
(They have some more available for mailorder too)

The quality is superb, everything fits exactly, and engravings are really exact. So exact in fact, that they probably need a bit care when painting so not to fill them.

There are no instructions which meant for example that this sarcophagus took an hour to build. I actually did not mind as I was in no hurry, and took it more as a puzzle.

The other, even harder puzzle was this. These were left over after all else was assembled. I had zero idea of what to make of them.

Finally, after several construction attempts I got it :)

Coffins. They could be used without painting in a pinch. Cultist for scale.
So, to sum up, these will get ***** out of 5 chaos stars. they were cheap, and quality left nothing to be desired. So stop what you are doing, surf to Ogří Doupě, and order some!

Herald got ready too. In the end I got bored and took some shortcuts, it is playable though. The bird claws don't really show, but they are there.
Chest tattoo is from chaos decal set.
I really need to take some time at some point and focus on OSL effect. It is probably not hard, but requires some thought to get it to work. It doesn't do that now.
(My 40k opponents can probably spy at the background some upcoming reinforcements to Legio Penetratus' force)

I replaced the usual disk of Tzeentch with a slimy medusalike creature.

D&D 5e First Impressions

(Disclaimer, if you are player in the campaign, this'll spoil what campaign we are playing)
So, during a drunken babble, the topic of RPGs, and especially, the lack of such, came up with a buddy of mine.
The conclusion was, that in older people's life there was really not enough of role playing. Not if you exclude the stuff you do with your missus.. you know..

..but the "submit order" -button looked soo enticing..

Ok, so I got a little bonus and thought to reward myself by buying crap I probably never use, and less likely ever get painted.

Frostgrave Soldiers unboxing / review

So, in a heat of moment, I purchased some Frostgrave miniatures, when my mate Teemu wanted someone for combined mailorder. I have the rulebook on its way, and the previews looked cool so what could go wrong?

Star Wars Armada First Impressions / Review

I purchased FFG :s Star Wars Armada few weeks back. I have played it with the starter set contents couple of times with my son, but now with wave 1 arriving (at least part of it), it was time to amass a larger fleet and take the war to our club´s galaxy.
So, on stardate 230515 Mon Anwil and his rebel scum clashed with Darth Gutrot´s glorious fleet.

Skirmish Sangin rules review

I bought Skirmish Sangin rules during the christmas holidays. I have looked them for long, but only now got around buying them.

Spectre miniatures kickstarter unboxing

Part of my pledge arrived from Spectre Miniatures packed in neat small boxes.

I had already forgotten about this, so it was a nice suprise.

Vestals of nemesis pt 2.

Here's few models assembled and basecoated.

Avatars of war - Vestals of nemesis unboxing pt. 1

I got my 2 boxes of 30 Vestals of Nemesis from AoW delivered 2 days ago.
Why 2 you might ask? Well, if one preorders half naked toy soldiers while under the influence of alcohol, one might not remember it, and preorder some more few weeks after.. :) Although, with AoW prices compared to GW, it is not that bad. GW witch elves are a joke, not the models, but the pricing.

Spartan scenics scifi buildings unboxing

I got 2 sets of spartan scenics boxes from battlefield berlin today (gret store btw.).

First thing I noticed was the size. They each weight around 10-15kg, which was a small issue, as I was picking them up with a bicycle :). After my wife drove with car, and got them, I started to go through what I had gotten.

Malifaux unboxing

I have been interested in Malifaux for a long time, mainly because of the models which look gorgeous and oozing with personality and perverted ideas.
So finally, I went and bought Guild's judgement starter box, small rules manual and fate deck. All in all, to get started with the game takes less than 70 euros! That is really nothing today, even less so when you look at what you get with that money.

New hobby products

Scale 75 paint sets

I have managed to buy some new stuff in past few weeks that I haven't tried out before, so I thought I'd write a short reviews about each.

Chain of Command rules review

We played our first game of Chain of Command from Too Fat Lardies.

Nice little painting e-book

I stubled upon a nice little book in itunes bookstore: Miniature painting by R. Kaple.
The book itself is not very big, but the price is below 3€.
It contains instructions to both beginning and advanced painters, the topics include prepping miniatures, color theory, NMM and more.
In addition to normal text based explanations, there is well done little videos of various techniques that illustrate them better than just images and text.
The information contained is nothing one cannot scavenge from teh intewebs, but the presentation is clear and easy to absorb.
The quality and price combined make this a very attractive buy indeed, so do yourself a favor and check it out.

Windsor & Newton series 7 miniature brushes

My preciousssss, sizes 000 to 3

I acquired 6 W&N brushes recently, and christ, they are awesome.

Wargames Foundry Troll Champion

I got my Troll Champion from Wargames Foundry yesterday. I don't know if this dude is going to see any gaming action, but the model was so funny looking so I just had to get it. Especially the face and thin body proportions are tongue-in-cheek sculpted and have personality.

Troll pieces and a complementary (how nice is that!) orc from Foundry

GF9 extra large rocky hill

I bought Gale Force 9 extra large rocky hill few days back as a symptom of my ongoing terrain obsession. I have not liked GF9 terrain very much, as they look clumsy and too bulky generally. The hill looked good at the box's cover, and the option would have been to buy foam and start carving, painting and flocking, so I picked the the easy way out, and threw money at the problem.
