Malifaux unboxing

I have been interested in Malifaux for a long time, mainly because of the models which look gorgeous and oozing with personality and perverted ideas.
So finally, I went and bought Guild's judgement starter box, small rules manual and fate deck. All in all, to get started with the game takes less than 70 euros! That is really nothing today, even less so when you look at what you get with that money.

The "Guild's judgement" box contains 6 beautiful models, bases and their stat and upgrade cards. I chose this box over others because of death marhall and scales of justice models. They did not disappoint!

As far as sculpting goes with different manufacturers, they tend to try to find a balance with details, durability and easy assembly. Wyrd has gone all the way with details. This raises the only gripe I have with the miniatures, they will not take heavy handling, and are for some part harder to assemble.

Take this death marshall for example. The way he is glued to the coffin will not survive a drop to the floor. Not even after I pinned him in addition of gluing.
But, the upside is, that the pose is extremely dynamic and interesting, there is movement and agility that really competes in its own class.

There really are not much options in the box except human heads for the marshalls. I chose the flaming skulls obviously, as they are really cool :)

This marshall and his coffin were a bit larger than the rest, luckily not really disturbingly so.

Least interesting model was pretty surprisingly Lady Justice herself. Eventhough she's nice, she somehow stays in the shadow of the others. The blade was a separate piece. Again, no dropping these or grabbing from whicever part.

The Judge. You see that the pose has taken precedence in the sculpting. The legs are so far apart, that they will not fit in the base without going over to the curved part.

I'm thinking of making a slates or something on top of the base as a scenic element. Somehow these guys deserve a little extra attention.

Unit and upgrade cards, good, solid quality again.

The fate deck. It is essentially a regular card deck with weird graphics and suits to match the game.

As a conclusion, everything is packed with quality, and the price is right. I'm not sure if I get anyone to play this with me ever, but I'm still buying more crews just to get them under the brush.
I'm only halfway through the rules, so I can't really comment anything else than that the card mechanic seems interesting, playing the game will confirm that.
